Gold-copper Orobraze™ filler metals show good wetting on Fe, Ni, Co, Ta, Nb and W.

Gold-nickel Orobraze™ filler metals (Orobraze™ 950 and 990) show good high temperature strength (up to 600˚C), resistance to oxidation, and resistance to crevice corrosion on stainless steel and are therefore often used in the aerospace industry and can be supplied according to Rolls-Royce (MSRR 9500) specification.

Orobraze™ 845 is a gold-copper brazing filler metal. In general these high purity filler metals show good resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures and excellent corrosion resistance in many chemical environments.
Gold-copper Orobraze™ filler metals are suitable for use in the fabrication of vacuum tube / thermionic valve devices as both gold and copper have low vapor pressures under the elevated temperature and levels of vacuum seen in such items. In addition, the filler metals can be manufactured such that they contain only minimum levels of volatile elements, and can therefore be supplied to meet the requirements of EN 1044 - V1 grade (vacuum grade 1 materials).
All the gold-copper Orobraze™ filler metals have relatively short melting ranges and free flowing characteristics, and come with ever increasing series of melting ranges allowing their use in step brazing operations. Typical joint gaps are between 0.025-0.1mm depending on parent materials and joint configuration.
Gold-copper Orobraze™ filler metals can produce ductile joints without excessive inter-alloying / erosion of the parent metals, which is advantageous when brazing thin walled structures. They form small radius smooth fillets at the joint edges.

Orobraze™ 950 is a high purity gold bearing brazing filler metal. It is extensively used in aerospace components and thermionic valve / vacuum tube devices as well as in other specialised applications.
Orobraze™ 950 exhibits excellent high temperature strength up to 500˚C and oxidation resistance up to 800°C. Because of the alloy's elevated temperature properties it is used extensively in the manufacture of components required to operate at high temperature, for example turbojet aero-engine components. The alloy produces small exceptionally smooth fillets at the joint edges that do not disturb the aerodynamic gas flow in aero-engine components.
Orobraze™ 950 is suitable for vacuum furnace brazing, as it contains no volatile elements. Grade 1 Orobraze™ 950 has impurity levels which make it suitable for brazing components that operate at elevated temperatures in ultra high vacuum, such as vacuum tube devices. It is also suitable for step brazing in complex assemblies.
Orobraze™ 950 also offers good corrosion resistance in many chemical environments and its joints are resistant to interfacial crevice corrosion on stainless steels in aqueous service environments. These properties have been put to use in the paper making industries for example. Typical joint gaps are in the range of 0.025-0.1mm depending on parent metals, joint configuration and brazing methods.AMS/AWS A5.8
